Before you throw it away, flip over the plug going into the phone. When I first attached my phone, it wasn't charging. I turned it over and it worked fine. Apparently, this is not like the standard iPhone charging wires - this one is one directional and you can't tell which side is up. However, it works great.

Zeimax 2 Pack USB Sync Data / Charging White 3 Ft Cable for iPhone 5 / 5C / 5S (IOS7 Supported) iPad Mini iPod Touch 5th Gen

Iphone Charging USB Sync Data

I'm on a iPhone 5s with IOS 7.1. This cable only worked for me when plugged into the Apple Charger that came with the phone. Using the cable to plug into my iMac, and JVC iPhone compatible car stereo, iPhone says "this cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone" then does not work at all; cheap car charger in car, nothing. Using the cable that came from Apple in all these cases does work, so I conclude this cable is charging only.

I'm not one to write a review, but I'm sincerely worried this will cause an issue for someone in the future. I ordered the 5 cables due to the low price despite some reviews that the cables might stop working.

Yesterday I plugged one cable into the standard Apple USB plug which was sitting in a surge protector. It initially charged my ipad and iphone without any issues. Today, I plugged the cable into my iphone 4s, and 10 minutes later, my wife says, why is there smoke?! The cable melted straight through.

Bottom line, this is a dangerous product. What would we have done if we left this plugged in over night or while we were out? The phone was sitting on top of the arm of our couch, I'm very concerned about what this could have done if my wife wasn't nearby.

I'll post pictures of the cable as well. Will NOT be buying this ever again.

Iphone Charging Pad

Iphone Charging Pad

I really really love the concept for this. Put your item on it and it charges! Brilliant!! however....you have to have a special case for your particular item. I guess that makes sense, but you end up having more device specific "stuff." (And they don't offer cases for all devices.) I currently have a sparkly case for my phone (I know) and I don't want to get rid of it for a black powermat receiver case! (the cases are about 15 bucks.) Without a case, you plug in the mat, put a little "pod" thing on the mat, but you still have to plug your phone into the pod...so you really haven't saved any steps at all. You still have to plug it in.

I think it would be nice to travel with since you only need the mat, pod and the included adapters (it comes with adapters to fit popular items.) It also comes with a little case to hold the extra adapters, but they all don't fit! I thought that was goofy to design a special item to hold the included adapters, but only some fit in it.

It would be nice if phones, ipods, etc. came "mat-ready", but they don't. At least not yet. I do use it. It is nice having a little area that can charge my ipod, blackberry, and sansa and only having to fool with the adapters, not all those chargers. So it is convenient, just not wirelessly for me yet. I may change my mind about my current case and spring for the powermat one. Easy might trump sparkly.

edit: I have had this for a while now, and I do use it everyday. I like it more than I did when I first got it. I like that I can plug the adapter thing in once place, then put the stuff on the mat instead of reaching for the cord near some outlet(I have my mat in a drawer...i ran an extra outlet behind one of my kitchen cabinets so I can plug it in there.

Iphone Charging Problems

Iphone Charging Problems

I've had this product for two months, and so far I'm very pleased. I got it because I was going to a convention where it might be hard to charge my iPhone 5 during the day. Sure enough, a fully charged Zackery Bar gave me two full re-charges from a low battery indicator, and it looked like it had plenty of juice for one more (I have not pushed it to the limit and tested how many recharges I can get from a fully dead phone). The LEDs are very handy -- when fully charged, all three are on; after one recharge, I had two, and after the second, I had one. After that, I charged it up and I'm now testing how long it lasts -- it's been about six weeks, and I still have all three lights.

If you want something light enough to fit in your pocket and not notice it, this isn't for you (they do sell a smaller version, with less juice), but if you want to make sure you have plenty of power when you need it then this is for you.

If you Iphone Charging Problems do you buy new ,this no problem sure ha ha

I saw a press release about this device on Engadget a few weeks ago and thought that it would make the perfect companion for my Galaxy SIII. My phone is awesome, but it does chew through power when running games or watching movies. To ensure that I'd never run out of power when I needed it, I ordered the 5600 mAh Jackery Bar and patiently waited two days.

Well, after a week of using the device, I can definitely say that it was worth the purchase. I have tried a couple of devices on it so far, and the Jackery bar has quickly charged each and every one of them. It fits the bill, but it's definitely not perfect, so here are some pros/cons of the device as I have experienced it:

PROS:
+Very small and well made. The metal enclosure is svelte and the plastic caps are bonded to the device satisfactorily. The device feels solid and fits in a pocket easily.
+Charges devices quickly. Full charge of the GSIII in less than two hours!
+Battery charges quickly, too. Takes probably 5 hours for a full charge from zero, but that's at least 2x the power of your cellphone.
+Definitely high-capacity. I could charge my phone three times from 30% before it gives up the ghost.
+Useful LED light (2 LEDs). Not too bright, but definitely good enough for close reading. I'm sure it would be a good camping companion.
+Can charge a device and itself at the same time. Useful for plugging both into one charger overnight.
+LEDs give a good indication of the charge. Blinking LED means you have 4 statuses in 3 lights. (1 Blinking: 0-33%; 1 Lit, 1 Blinking: 33-66%; 2L 1B: 66-99%; 3L: 100%)

=Like all Li-Ion batteries, this device will lose power when cold.

Iphone Charging Issues

Iphone Charging Issues

Apple has a reputation of urging customers not to use charging cables other than the officially sanctioned, and coincidentally more expensive, cables sold by Apple and authorized vendors. The new iOS 7 encourages similar behavior by blocking support for unlicensed Lightning cables. Multiple users have reported on Reddit last week that they are unable to charge an iPhone 5 when plugging in an unlicensed Lightning cable. I experienced the same problem yesterday after plugging in my iPhone 5 to a friend's off-brand cable. Rather than charging the device, a warning pops-up saying that "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone."
While I was disappointed because I knew this would lead to problems (I use a cheap Lightning cable for my car charger), I expected to find a fix soon. 9to5Mac notes that a workaround has already been discovered. It would be nice had Apple made things easier and just let people continue to charge without needing to take extra steps, but here's how to fix a Lightning cable not charging with iOS7.

1. Turn on USB power
2. Plug in lightning cable to iPhone
3. Dismiss any warnings
4. Unlock your iPhone.
5. Dismiss any remaining warnings.
6. Now with the screen turned on.
7. Unplug the knock off lightning cable.
8. Plug it back in.
9. Dismiss warning again
10. It should now charge.

Iphone Charging Case

Iphone Charging Case

Maybe someday (maybe even tomorrow, though I doubt it), Apple will engineer an iPhone that can charge wirelessly, just by sitting on the right surface. No cables, no wall warts, no hassles.

Until that day, if you want to charge your iPhone, you need to either dock it or connect it to a charging cable. Or not, if you keep it in a Prong PocketPlug case. This black shell looks like a typical extended-battery case, except for the two metal prongs that fold flat when not in use. To charge your phone, you just pop out the prongs, then plug the whole thing into an outlet.

Neat idea, right? Although it does seem to preclude you using your iPhone while it's charging, the case has a Micro-USB port on the side if you prefer a corded charge. (Plus, you get the benefit of compatibility with nonproprietary cables.)

Like an extended-battery case, the PocketPlug does add a bit of girth to your iPhone. On an iPhone 5, for example, it extends the length about half an inch, and the depth around 0.4 inch. Prong doesn't specify the weight of the case, but my guess is it's very light.

That's because, alas, the PocketPlug doesn't have a battery of its own. It's merely a charging adapter. I think if you're going to add extra bulk to your phone, it should offer supplemental power at the same time. According to Prong's FAQ, "The current version of the PocketPlug is an AC charger only and does not include an extended battery" -- which suggests a future version will.

For now, the PocketPlug is available for the iPhone 4/4S and iPhone 5 ($59.95 and $69.95), with black versions available now and white ones scheduled to ship this month. A Samsung Galaxy S3 version is in the works.

Much as I love the convenience this offers, I think I'd rather get one that can give my iPhone extra juice when there's no outlet to be found. Your thoughts?

It sounds like your iPhone 5 is not charging.  I found an article with some steps that might help with this.  I recommend reviewing the steps in the sections titled "Battery does not charge from the USB power adapter" and "Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off" in the following article:

Iphone Charging Time Lithium Battery

Iphone Charging Time Lithium Battery

Lithium-ion Batteries

Rechargeable lithium-based technology currently provides the best performance for your Apple notebook computer, iPod, iPhone, or iPad. You can also find this standard battery technology in many other devices. Apple batteries share the characteristics common to lithium-based technology in other devices. Like other rechargeable batteries, these batteries may eventually require replacement.
Standard Technology

Lithium-ion polymer batteries have a high power density that gives you a long battery life in a light package. And you can recharge a lithium-ion polymer battery whenever convenient, without requiring a full charge or discharge cycle.
Chart illustrating lithium-polymer battery voltage/cell and charge current over time during the fast and trickle charge stages

Standard Charging

Most lithium-ion polymer batteries use a fast charge to charge your device to 80% battery capacity, then switch to trickle charging. That’s about two hours of charge time to power an iPod to 80% capacity, then another two hours to fully charge it, if you are not using the iPod while charging. You can charge all lithium-ion batteries a large but finite number of times, as defined by charge cycle.

Charge Cycle. Using and recharging 100% of battery capacity equals one full charge cycle.

A charge cycle means using all of the battery’s power, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could listen to your iPod for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle. Each time you complete a charge cycle, it diminishes battery capacity slightly, but you can put notebook, iPod, and iPhone batteries through many charge cycles before they will only hold 80% of original battery capacity.
Battery Replacement and Disposal

Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced and disposed of. For products with built-in lithium-ion polymer batteries, the batteries should be replaced only by Apple or an Apple authorized service provider. Apple and its authorized service providers will ensure the spent battery is recycled properly, since batteries should always be recycled or disposed separately from household waste. Learn more about Apple’s battery replacement options

Once an Apple product reaches the end of its useful life, Apple will help you recycle it responsibly. Learn more about Apple’s recycling program
How to Maximize Power Use

The length of time your battery will power your device depends on how you use it. For instance, watching a movie or playing a game will use up your notebook battery’s power more quickly than simple word processing. You can follow some easy steps to maximize your notebook, iPod, iPhone, or iPad battery life.
